STAMFORDHAM

The Swinburne family as long been associated the village of Stamfordham.

Location

Northumberland, England.

Stamfordham lies on the River Pont about 13 miles north east of Hexham.

 
In the centre of the village green is the ancient Market Cross which was erected in 1735 by a Swinburne.

The village had its own pele tower, which, in 1848, was incorporated in the church.
